From Canmore
follow the signs to the Canmore Nordic Centre, and stay on the Spray Lakes Road, which becomes the Smith Dorrien - Spray Trail (#742 South) - a well maintained gravel road - for about 40 km. south along the coastline of Spray Lake, to the Mount Shark Road turnoff. Turn Right. |
From Calgary
follow Highway #1 (Trans-Canada Highway West) to Highway # 40 Kananaskis Trail. Turn left (south), and keep on Highway 40 (you will go past the Nakiska Ski Hill, and Kananaskis Golf Course, and the Fortress Mountain Ski Hill), all the way to the Smith Dorrien - Spray Trail turnoff (# 742). Turn right (west) and soon after turn right again, and then follow the Smith Dorrien - Spray Trail for about 30 kms. (north) to Mt Shark Road. Turn Left. |
Either route takes you to Mount Engadine Lodge, which is located at the Mount Shark Road turn-off on the Smith Dorrien - Spray Trail (#742).
It's a beautiful drive - you'll pass some spectacular lakes and rivers, and plenty of spots to pull over and enjoy the view and abundant wildlife!
